2. WHY?
So why did we think of developing a website dedicated to local food producers?
Many Extension Agents throughout the state are interested in developing innovative ways to help to promote local foods. Our group wanted to find a way that would allow producers a place to promote their products in a mobile friendly format and also be a source of educational resources for both producer and consumer.

The format we choose was an FYI site from UW-Extension. This is a free website that Extension agents have access to rely content specific information.

4. We embeded a Google form, which in turn populates a Google sheet
We embeded a Google form, which in turn populates a Google sheet. This sheet is used in a web based program called Awesome Table to develop a map.

5. The Awesome Table creates search functions that allows the user to focus on one or more producers, a specific county or counties, specific product(s), or a combination of any of them.

6. Here is an example of finding a producer with carrots in Waushara County.

7. The customer then can zoom down to the location of the farm.

8. Consumer based information
To help customers with preserving and other food safety information we have included numerous publications from UW-Extension and the USDA to ensure they use proper techniques in preserving products they purchase.

9. Production & Marketing materials
We also included materials to assist producers with marketing their products and also university publications and state DATCP resources on production practices.

In addition, we included business cards producers can fill out and print to hand out to customers.

We also developed postcards to be sent out to the customers and producers to market the website.
