4. R-e-s-p-e-c-t
Be respectful to me, other teachers, visitors to the classroom, your classmates and yourselves. You will be treated with the same respect and courtesy with which you treat others. Even if you do not agree with someone, you must respect their right to their own opinions and beliefs.

6. Don’t be a Talk Shark! This goes back to being respectful.
Be patient
Be patient and tolerant of others. Yes, you may know the answer right off the bat, but others take a little time to get there. Drawing attention to how quick you know things can make others feel that they don’t need to talk. EVERYONE needs to participate and I intend to hear from each class member this semester.

8. Be prepared
Come to class on time with all your materials. This includes having a writing utensil, paper, any homework or assignments that were assigned previously, and whatever piece of literary material we are going over at the time. I have materials you may borrow but you will have to give me collateral (i.e. phone, keys, a shoe, etc.) I want something you won’t leave behind.

12. Turn in your work on time
Assignments are given for a reason and they are expected back on their respective due dates. Work must be turned in on time to receive full credit.
Late work, if accepted, will be graded with a penalty.

14. Be authentic
Complete all your assignments with creativity and originality. This class is to help you learn and I can’t do that if you are copying someone else’s work and passing it off as your own. Of course, there’s also the fact that plagiarism will result in a zero for the assignment and other academic penalties. If you use someone else’s work, GIVE THEM CREDIT.

16. Pay attention
If I am talking, it’s usually for a reason and, probably, for your benefit. I shouldn’t have to repeat myself multiple times because you were not listening.

18. Absent? What should you do?
Absences happen. However, we, as a class, will soldier on without you. Do not ask me if we did something when you weren’t here. Check the folders for the date you missed. If they are empty, then ask me.The folders are assigned as follows:
Red- Second Block
Yellow- Third Block
Blue- Fourth Block

20. Extra Credit
Do not ask for extra credit. I do not give extra credit as a rule. However, there may be some instances on a test where questions may be counted as extra credit rather than regular answers.
At the end of the semester is not the time to decide to ask for more work. If you complete the regular assignments YOU WILL NOT NEED EXTRA CREDIT.

22. Bathroom breaks
I am not an unreasonable person. I understand the need to use the bathroom. I will allow you to go on occasion, but it cannot be an everyday thing. It is disruptive for someone to constantly leave class. You WILL NOT be allowed to go during tests, or when we are in the middle of instruction. Wait until transitional times. If you abuse the privilege, I will be less likely to let you go.

24. Cell phones
School policy states that cell phones are not to be in use during class. There are rare occasions where I will let you use your phones for assignments. You will be notified of these times. If you have your phone out and it is not for designated instruction, it will be confiscated. If you abuse this privilege, it will be taken away. Do not have your cell phone out without permission and make sure it is off during class unless otherwise instructed.

27. This is an English class so please use common sense on all assignments
SPELLING COUNTS.
GRAMMAR COUNTS.
ANSWERS MUST ALWAYS BE IN COMPLETE SENTENCES.
A PARAGRAPH IS 5-7 SENTENCES.
