2 Background Our and calendars have been set and approved by the Ministry of Education. There have been 2 recent changes with regard to the calendar regulation that require us to change our calendars for these years, this requires an opportunity for community feedback.

3 Changes that require Amendment
The BC Government announced that beginning in 2019, Family Day will fall on the third Monday of February (as opposed to the Second Monday as in past years). The Ministry has reduced the hours of instruction for the school year by five hours.   This is to allow teachers to participate in discussions and activities around curriculum implementation.  

4 Calendar Regulations/Procedures
Board must make publicly available the school calendar that it proposes to submit at least one month before the date the calendar must be submitted to the minister.

5 Proposed Calendar Revision Process
February 26, 2018 Board Meeting District Staff present proposed revised calendar Made available to public/partner groups for February 27, 2018 until April 13, 2018 April 23 Board meeting Feedback presented to the Board

6 Proposed Changes for 2018-19 School Year
November 9, 2018: Additional “Non Instructional Day” as per Amended School Calendar Regulation 033/2018 Family Day moved from February 11 to February 18, 2019

7 Proposed Changes for 2019-20 School Year
Family Day moved from February 10 to February 17, 2020
