My name is Kimmy Reed and I will be presenting two visual representations of class survey data collected in response to the question “Do you smoke cigarettes every day, some days, or not at all?

2. Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to present ordinal data using a pie graph and a bar chart.

Rank ordered as well as placed into categories
Exact differences between ranks cannot be specified with these types of data
Numbers obtained from this measurement process indicate the order rather than the exact quantity of the variables

3. Pie Chart Do you smoke cigarettes every day, some days, or not at all?
A pie chart shows how proportions/percentages, especially their comparison, for a 100%. A pie chart displays a “whole” with smaller parts and how they relate to each other. This is an appropriate choice because it is able for the reader to identify the largest or smallest piece of something. According the National Cancer Society, I appropriately placed the largest slice pointing at 12 o’clock and the other slices clockwise in descending order. My labels are short and positioned horizontally outside the pie. I have the recommended amount of slices (6 or less).

4. Bar Chart
A bar chart is a good way to display this information because there are less than six categories to be analyzed. This also allows the audience to visualize the difference in magnitude between the answers. The set data range also gives the audience an established range of those involved.
