7 Pass Books Many black South Africans were forced to live in townships, which were settlements located on the city’s perimeter Were subject to curfew regulations as well as passbook raids White South African police officers would enter into homes and check the passbooks of citizens Failure to meet curfew or have passbook = subject to arrest
