Transportation OUR CLASSROOM WELCOME I believe that the parent-child-teacher connection is integral to success in school. I am here to support you and your child and will always be their advocate. I hope you let me know if you have any concerns about home or school life. Your child’s happiness and overall well being are priorities to me during their time in first grade. I want them to feel safe and loved within the walls of our room and in our entire school! Please do not rely on your child to relay any transportation changes to me. Please always me or call the school before the school day to ensure I get the message. I sometimes cannot check during the day, so please let the office know if there are any last minute changes in transportation. TO OPEN HOUSE Communication Class rules The best way to contact me is through or the Bloomz App. I do my best to respond within 24 hours. I check each child’s take home binder daily so feel free to write a note to me there. Please also check your child’s binder each evening in case I write a quick note to you! Please also go to the Mohawk Elementary website and click on the red boxes to sign up for general information and the daily announcement list s. You can also sign up to get phone calls/text alerts for closing/delays and any other important information on our webpage. Each morning after the pledge of allegiance, we continue by saying, “I am a warrior leader. I am healthy, happy, and safe at school. I know that everyone matters. I show respect for people and property. I own my actions.” . Our specific classroom rules are: Keep hands and feet to yourself Try your best Listen Raise your hand Use good manners Be kind Be respectful Be responsible Be safe Be a scholar Aug 21, 2017 CONTACT INFORMATION Mrs. Yarger 1st Grade Room 121 We use a daily class clip chart to monitor behavior. Students start on green every morning. Each day your child will come home with a color marked on their calendar. If they moved their clip down it will accompany a reason. Please initial the box to acknowledge that you saw it. It is important to check your child’s binder daily so that you are aware of their classroom behavior! ATTENDANCE HOMEWORK DAILY SCHEDULE SNACK SPECIALS ROTATION
(schedule subject to change) Your child’s regular and prompt attendance at school is very important to his or her success. Please view school as a priority and see that your child attends school every day except in cases of illness or emergency. Absences are excused for specific reasons (sickness, appointments, etc.) but I will need a written note/phone call to the office in order to excuse it. An is also sufficient for this! Thank you for letting me know if your child will be out for any reason. Homework should take no more than 15-30 minutes tops! More information will be coming to you soon! Stay tuned! 7:45-8:20- Morning Work/Intervention 8:20-8:50- Calendar, Leader in Me or Science/Social Studies 8:50-9:00- Restroom 9:00-9:50- Language Arts 9:50-10:50- Guided Reading/Centers 10:50-10:58- Get ready for lunch/restroom 10:58-11:40- Recess/Lunch 11:40-12:40- Math 12:40-1:00- Milk/Snack/Restroom 1:04-1:46- Specials (P.E., Art, Library, Music) 1:50-2:10- Recess 2:10-2:25- Read Aloud or pack up on days we have another special 2:28-3:10- M/Th./F- Math Centers/pack-up, T/Wed.- Music and Art SNACK Each day we have a “working snack”. I will allow the class to eat a snack in the afternoon. Please do not send in candy/junk food as a snack or items that require both hands or a spoon. Granola bars, crackers, fruit, etc. are great options! You can send in a bag of snacks for your child to keep in their book bag or cubby. It is you and your child’s responsibility to remember to send them in. Your child may keep a water bottle on their desk during the day. SPECIALS ROTATION I look forward to a great year with my new first graders! My door is always open. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns! Specials are every day. We have a four day rotation schedule (1:04-1:46): P.E. Art Library Music Tuesday and Wednesday we have a second special from 2:28-3:10. Tuesday: Music Wednesday: Art BIRTHDAY TREATS Please provide me with one week notice if you plan on sending in a birthday treat so that I can make arrangements for students with allergies and include it in my plans.
