Making Text to Text connections involves explaining how an aspect from your novel relates or is connected to another text Remember that texts can include: novels, movies, tv shows, songs, music videos, tv commercials, poems, non-fiction books, short stories

Text to Self Connections
Text to Self connections involve relating something from your novel to something that has happened in your own life When making Text to Self connections, be sure to go beyond the simple. For example, avoid connections like “There is a dog in my novel and I have a dog.” Your connection should be more sophisticated and well supported than that.

Text to World Connections
Text to World connections require you to connect and relate something from your novel to an issue or event from the real world World connections can be specific or historical events (WWII or 9/11, for example), or a more global theme that impacts people in the world (poverty, conflict, discrimination, for example)
