Our Institution California State University Long Beach (CSULB) is one of the larger universities in the CSU system. Total number students ~ 37,000 Total number of faculty ~ 2,500 Total number of staff ~ 1,600 Before we begin, we would like to share a little bit of information about our institution to give a perception of our campus and where we are coming from. -less than 3 miles from the beach -20 minutes (2 miles) from Downtown Long Beach -45 minutes from LA

About Our Office Director Analytic Studies Associate III Research Tech III Research Tech II Statistical Data Miner Associate Tableau Developer Office Support Coordinator IR&A handles traditional reporting roles, ad-hocs, and uses data visualization tools to disseminate information. Currently, there is no central assessment office, but IR&A maintains faculty evaluations and aids in department assessments. As I share the traditional roles of our office, it’s important to mention the recent changes to staff, and direction new direction office is headed. The dynamics of our office are unique: -The director is a year and half in his position there have been a lot of new additions to the team there has been changes in the role of what the office has been providing. With a fairly new director, with a background in Engineering, our team is focused on predictive analytics and transitions much of our reporting over to Tableau data visualizations.

Our Purpose Collect data from the stakeholders themselves to better understand their perspective Understand what services provided by IR&A are valued Implement services stakeholders would like to see IR&A provide There was an audit of IR&A in 2014 which showed that IR&A was not providing services that were valued by the campus. This was a way to check in to see if the changing dynamics of the office has better shifted to meet the campus community needs.

Moving Forward Our emphases on Student Success is warranted by the interest on campus We are not the primary areas that the campus community goes to for data and less so for assessment Can we better serve the campus community or are we lacking the appropriate staff How can we be more of a support for assessment at our university Next Step - Communication We received a lot of useful information about how our office is perceived by the campus community. Our next move is to share this information up and hope to be part of the conversation as we decide how to move forward. **send feedback the time of sending data **
