2
Purpose and objectives
To understand why WE are so few To see what the Scriptures say To encourage perseverance Purpose and objectives
3
Always been FEW Genesis before the Flood The Flood
(6) And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. (7) So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them." The Flood: 1 Peter 3:20 (20) who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 2 Peter 2:5 (5) and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;

Always been FEW Genesis before the Flood The Flood Sodom & Gomorrah
2 Peter 2:6-8 (6) and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; (7) and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (8) (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)—

The Israelites Compare to the world How many were ultimately saved? Those conquered by Israel Those saved when Israel fell Always been FEW The Israelites: Compared to the world Only Joshua and Caleb of the 650,000 who came out of Egypt Numbers 14:24 (24) But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it. Numbers 14:36-38 (36) Now the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation complain against him by bringing a bad report of the land, (37) those very men who brought the evil report about the land, died by the plague before the LORD. But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive, of the men who went to spy out the land. Those conquered by Israel – Rahab and her family from Jericho Those spared when Israel and Judah went into captivity – tens of thousands out of millions???

Always will be FEW Jesus said: Strait and narrow gate – Matt. 7.14
Many called, but… - Matt The question – Luke Always will be FEW Matthew 7:13-14 (13) "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. (14) Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 20:16 (16) So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen."

WHY? Love “darkness” because of sins Love “darkness” -
(John 3:19-20 NKJV) "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. {20} "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. Before Flood – thoughts were only evil continually, violence Sodom & Gomorrah – Unbridled and perverted lusts of flesh, eyes and pride Israel – unbelief, rebellious spirit, hard hearted and stiff necked

WHY? Love “darkness” because of sins Do not want to hear
Do not want a Ruler Do not truly seek Did not count the cost Not willing to make the sacrifice WHY? 2. Do not want to hear – “He who has ears to hear, let him hear” (16 times in the NT) Ezr 7:10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel. 3. Do not want a Ruler – Luk 19:14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We will not have this man to reign over us.' 4. Do not truly seek – Diligently seek Hebrews 11.6 5. Did not count the cost – Luke : take up cross, forsake all that we have 6. Not willing to make the sacrifice - Luk 9:62 But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

What should we do? Keep asking, seeking, knocking
Seek first the kingdom Strive to enter Persevere to the end What should we do? Keep asking…seeking…knocking: (Mat 7:7-11 NKJV) "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. {8} "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. {9} "Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? {10} "Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? {11} "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Seek first the kingdom: Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Strive to Enter: (Mat 7:13-14 NKJV) "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. {14} "Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. NOTE THE CONTEXT OF FALSE PROPHETS WHO DESTROY THE SHEEP WITH FALSE DOCTRINE (PERVERTED GOSPEL) Persevere to the end: (Rev 2:10b NKJV) Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
