Don’t forget that the notes you make should be:
1. Important ideas only. 2. Easy to read & understand. 3. Brief & to the point. 4. In your own words.

When you take words or ideas from other people, make sure you use quotation marks or paraphrase the ideas into your own words. Quotation Marks Our teacher said, “GR101 is very useful” (Farran, 2012). Paraphrasing Our teacher told us how helpful GR101 was (Farran, 2012).

One way to avoid plagiarism is to use References.
Referencing your work means telling your reading where you got your information from. When you reference your work you include the family name and the year. Our teacher said, “GR101 is very useful” (Farran, 2012).

At the end of your paper or assignment, you will give us a bit more information about the references you used. This part is called the References list or Bibliography. Book Family name, initials. (year). Name of Book. Publisher. ~ Example: Farran, M. (2008). How to Teach Students. KPH. Website Website. Date accessed. ~ Example: 14th July 2012.
