© Presto Plans Read the paragraph below and find examples of metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, personification, oxymoron and/or alliteration. A tattered paper clung desperately to the telephone pole by two staples. The poster read, “Found Missing: Golden Retriever.” Josh looked closely at the photo as his mind attempted to retrieve the memory of where he saw this dog from the files in his brain. The memory was like a bolt of lightning. “Ah ha!” he roared when he remembered regularly seeing him on his route home at a neighbor’s house. There was a quick rip sound as he tore the number from the bottom of the page. Josh felt like a detective solving a mystery as he began inputting the number in his phone.

The Book Thief Turn to page 405. We’re going to read to page 415, and then you’ll read and annotate pages on your own. As we read: Make sure you’re paying attention and annotating as we go! It will help you remember what’s happening. As you read: Don’t forget to annotate! You will need at least one well-thought out, 2+ sentence annotation per page

Standover Man Project IXL: M.3 and M.4
Product: Write and illustrate your own story similar in style to The Standover Man. First, choose a theme or a message that you want to share from your own life. Next, write a simple story to go along with it, and draw accompanying pictures in your own unique style. Your version should be similar in length to The Standover Man (200 words minimum). You should also include at least 10 pictures (while they don’t have to be colored, they should not be in pencil.). It should be neat, and your words should have depth. Rubric: Length: 200 words minimum ____/10 points Pictures: 10 minimum pictures ____/20 points Message/Theme: is evident and ____/30 points clearly important to the reader
