100 mark coursework assessment of 2,000 words (covering Outcome 1 and 5 of BCS) 80 mark two-hour closed-book examination 20 multiple choice questions worth 20 marks (weighed approx. ¾ BCS - ¼ BSfB) Two extended response questions worth 30 marks each (All BSfB) Sampling approach

4 100 mark Coursework assessment of 2,000 words (covering Outcome 1 and 5 of BCS)
Pros Cons Good coverage of Outcome 1 and 5 Royal Mail case study not current Opportunity to use Harvard Referencing Marking guidelines for the body of the essay are vague Develops report writing skills Students can pass the coursework without showing depth of knowledge (only a 50% pass mark)

5 80 mark two-hour closed-book examination
(20 marks - multiple choice/60 marks - extended response) Pros Cons Complex multiple choice questions that challenge the leaners Multiple choice focused on BCS rather than BSfB Good preparation for university Extended response questions only relate to BSfB Less marking for the tutor BCS and BSfB don’t naturally fit together
