1 Creating your Own Propaganda
Approach the ideas in 2 possible ways: Art – Create a visual representation to express your opinion about one or more of the big ideas. Remember to think about propaganda and the different types, theme, and tone. Poetry – Create a symbolically decorated poem to express your opinion about one or more of the big ideas. Remember to think about the theme, points of view, and tone.

2 When presenting propaganda, you are counting on the people who are viewing your work to not double check your information. In order to ensure this, make sure to include facts in order to establish your credibility. The following propaganda uses this to great effect. What other persuasive techniques are used? Review propaganda techniques and discuss using facts in propaganda Using posters on both sides of the gun debate, to show that facts can be used to support opposing points

What would be your propaganda poster for your novel’s dystopian society? What techniques would it use? What would it try to convince the audience of? What would it want its society to believe? Why? From whose point of view will this propaganda be created?

7 Tips for Creating Your Posters
Do some research! – The more examples you see and the more knowledgeable you are about your topic, the more effective your poster will be. Know the target audience and the message you want to send! – When you are certain of what you want to accomplish, you will have an easier time planning Be Passionate about your topic! – The more you care, the more others will care Plan in a creative, unique and eye-catching way! – Make bold choices. Try to stand out and catch the attention of your audience. Your message won’t be heard if you cannot reach your audience.

11 Discussing your Choices
Not only is it important to create a strong example of propaganda, but it is also important to be able to explain why you made the choices you did. You will use the graphic organizer to self assess your work and to become more knowledgeable about your choices. You will need to look specifically at the theme, symbols, colors, and the slogan and you will explain how/why your choices create an impactful piece of propaganda!
