2. Early life Born June 26, 1974 in Pequannock, New Jersey
His mother(Dorothy Jeter)and father(Sanderson Jeter) were both baseball fanatics and had played baseball in their past
Jeter lived in New Jersey until the age of 4 when he moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan
Jeter’s parents was raised in a habit to become a very respectable and smart young man due to the way his parents raised him with many ways of discipline
He grew up in Kalamazoo and attended Kalamazoo high school where the beginning of his legacy was barely being found in himself

3. High school recognition
Jeter attended Kalamazoo Central High School
Jeter ran track in the fall, played basketball in the winter and played baseball in the spring
He broke many batting records and other records all by his Junior year
By his senior year Jeter was ranked as the top player in Michigan, Gatorade’s player of the year, USA Today’s player of the year and many more awards
He also had plenty of offers from colleges including U of M
Jeter was selected by the New York Yankees in the 1992 MLB Draft

4. Professional transition
Jeter played 4 seasons in the Minor Leagues where he struggled
He was having trouble at his at bats, batting almost below .200
He slowly made his way up to the AAA rank
Jeter made his Major league debut in 1995 after the Yankees called him up due to 2 infielders being injured
His first 5 at bats he was not successful until he played his second game
Jeter was called back down to AAA until he was called back up the next season to start at shortstop

5. Pro legacy
Jeter started his first opening day game for the Yankees where he hit his first home run and the same season when he was named Rookie of the Year
He also helped his team win the World Series during his rookie year
Jeter was selected for his first All-star game in 1998
5 X World Series Campion, 14 X All-Star, 5 X Golden Glove, 2 X Hank Aaron Award
Jeter was the first player to win the All-star game MVP and World Series MVP in the same year
He was the Yankees captain and shortstop for 20 years
He has recently retired in 2016

Derek Jeter grew up with many struggles and wasn’t always the best
He was not always successful the first time
He had many struggles even when he was pro
Derek Jeter shows us that no matter what obstacles you face, you can always get through them
Thats why he is one of the greatest to play the game of baseball
