2. Overview:
Students will write and compose a math cartoon which explains a topic from one of the units studied this quarter.
Pick three due dates or progress checks for:
Topic of cartoon
Rough draft of script
Final project due
Students must create their cartoons by hand.
Students will manage their time since this entire project will be done in class.
Rough draft should include everything which will be in the final cartoon.

3. Objectives:
Help students retain commonly used mathematical procedures.
Integrate math with writing, while providing students the opportunity to utilize both their cognitive and creative abilities.
Provide a motivational strategy that will encourage an appreciation for mathematics.
Incorporate the IB Learner Profile into the math curriculum.

4. Directions:
Students will draw on the given template to teach a learned concept in the first quarter.
The script must include (but is not limited to):
Appropriate for the character and setting of cartoon
Minimum of six scenes.
Uses academic vocabulary which cover the math topic (from approved list)
School appropriate
Drawings go with topic

5. Directions continued:

Game show
Television show scene
Short story
Create characters or use historical figures
Sports activity
School setting
Other ideas must be approved by teacher
