Faith The 1st pillar of Islam Called Shahadah in Islam
There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the last living prophet of Allah” Allah is the name of their god None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone Allah has no partner or son

Alms-Giving The 3rd pillar of Islam The Muslims call it Zakah
Practice charitable giving Giving money and food to the poor or slaves Only done by those who can afford to give This happens in the month of Ramadan The ninth month in the lunar calendar.

Two main types of Zakah Zakah on traffic Zakah on Wealth
The amount of money you should pay based on the amount you receive within the month of Ramadan. Zakah on Wealth 2.5% of the money from business, savings etc. goes to the Zakah

Fasting The 4th pillar of Islam Known as Sawm to Muslims
Cannot eat or drink anything from dawn to dusk this month No worldly desires during this month Done in the month of Ramadan Fasting is only required for people who are physically able to fast.

The fast is meant for Muslims:
To become closer to Allah To express their gratitude and dependence to Allah To remind them of the needy To atone for their past sins Fast is broken by eating a date It’s said Muhammad broke his fast with a date

Pilgrimage The 5th Pillar of Islam Known as hajj
Done during the Islamic month of Dhu al-hijjah Required to dress in Ihram clothing Two white sheets

Muslims are to make the hajj to Mecca Walk around the Ka’aba
Every able body is required to make this hajj at least once in their life For self improvement An expression of devotion to Allah
