9. Alms-Giving The 3rd pillar of Islam The Muslims call it Zakah

11. Fasting The 4th pillar of Islam Known as Sawm to Muslims
Cannot eat or drink anything from dawn to dusk this month
No worldly desires during this month

Fasting is only required for people who are physically able to fast.

12. The fast is meant for Muslims:
To become closer to Allah
To express their gratitude and dependence to Allah
To remind them of the needy
To atone for their past sins
Fast is broken by eating a date
It’s said Muhammad broke his fast with a date

13. Pilgrimage The 5th Pillar of Islam Known as hajj
Done during the Islamic month of Dhu al-hijjah
Required to dress in Ihram clothing
Two white sheets

14. Muslims are to make the hajj to Mecca Walk around the Ka’aba
Every able body is required to make this hajj at least once in their life
