Less C02 was set-up by Ashden.
Part of a portfolio of causes supported by Ashden. Ashden is a charity with a mission to help accelerate the transition to a low-carbon world through increasing the take-up of sustainable energy. (Patron is the Prince of Wales). The Ashden Sustainable School Awards, began in 2005. LESS CO2 programme was established in response to a perceived need for face-to-face mentoring from peers. They currently work with 350 schools in the UK – currently with school outside London in Surrey, Wales etc.

LESS CO2 is a programme to help schools become more sustainable.
We offer mentor support, peer to peer learning, and expert advice. One year Four workshops Cluster of schools Participant schools use a mix of clean energy, education and behaviour change initiatives to reduce carbon emissions. The programme lasts one academic year & consists of 4 workshops over 3 terms. It’s a “Weight Watchers” for energy use – based on proven techniques - involving peer support & motivation.

Behaviour change for staff and students. Teaching about sustainability. The workshops are attended by a mixture of teaching and non-teaching staff from the schools, typically two attendees per school, who share their different skills and perspectives on energy use in the school environment. Focus on – (1) use of energy on site (workshop 1 is on quick wins) (2) staff/pupil behavioural change (workshop 2 is about engaging with staff and pupils) (3) Workshop 3 is on linking sustainability into your teaching (4) Being a sustainable school The 2018 programme begins in October. Typically a cluster of 10 to 15 schools will work together. The programme can carry on informally after that, run by members of the cluster. On completion there is also an option to then mentor other schools.
