11 Math Homework, Projects and Assignments
Students must show all work in order to receive credit. If a student is confused about a question, have them try their best. Use the math website, Khan Academy, , post to Schoology and MOST IMPORTANTLY use their notes. We go over the homework so students can see and correct their mistakes Encourage your child to ASK QUESTIONS! Seek help: Before and After school, nutrition and lunch

Answers to the odd questions are in the back of the book Textbook is also the students workbook Student’s own math notes Homework club Mon. Wed. and Thurs. Online math book at connected.mcgraw-hill.com/lausd

13 Quizzes and Tests Quizzes will be given periodically (weekly).
Questions are based on the homework assignments they have completed and we have gone over in class. Students must ask questions if they are unsure about why they missed certain homework questions so that they will do well on the quiz. Tests are usually given at the end of each unit. Quiz and test corrections to support growth mindset.

You must have your student’s District ID

16 Homework Homework is given every school day (rarely on weekends, breaks, or vacations). 15 min. per subject per night (per LAUSD school board resolution) Homework based on in-class work and application to real world scenarios. Homework is checked and graded. Late work accepted, however, graded down 25%. Tests corrections are offered and encouraged, but not required for better grades (1/2 pt.) Extra credit is offered throughout the year. Encourage your child to take advantage.

17 Progress Reports vs. Report Cards
Every 4-5 weeks your child will receive a Portola progress report with all of their current grades. Progress reports go out during the 5th, 10th, & 15th week of each semester. The 20th week is their official report card which goes into their transcript.
