Observe Problem Behavior Staff deals with Minor Behaviors Staff deals with Major Behaviors Is the behavior a minor or major offense? Re-direct behavior Make Contact with Office/Secretary Prior to Sending Student Give verbal warning Re-teach appropriate behavior to meet expectations Minor Behaviors Major Problems Not Following Rules Profanity/Swearing Off Task Fighting/Assault Out of Seat Bullying Physical Contact Threat of Harm Speaking Out/ Disruptive Conduct Major Disruption/ Non Compliant Defiant/Non-Compliant Destruction of Property Cheating/Lying Stealing/Theft Stealing Forgery Disrespect Drugs/Alcohol/Tobacco Inappropriate Items at School Chronic Minor Offenses (more than 3) Repeatedly Late/ Incomplete Work Weapons/Lighters/ Matches Harassing Others Inappropriate Touching/ Exposure Student Conference with principal Reteach Appropriate Behavior Parental Contact Made Office Referral Documented in Tylersis Use alternate redirect options: Pull aside and discuss behavior, review expectations, etc. If consequence is given, document on referral form Please note: If behavior continues, refer to major offense Everyday starts a clean slate Fill out discipline referral form when student doesn’t respond to redirection, pre-correction, or verbal warning A minor offense can at times rise to the level of a major offense
