- The first method of making steel through steam engines were weak and expensive because it couldn’t stand the pressure of the process of making steel. But two men named Henry Bessemer and William Kelly found a new improved, and cheaper way to make steel.
- Rubber was originally used to prevent shoes and coats from getting wet, but Charles Goodyear created a process called “curing” that allowed the rubber to be more flexible.
- Coal was used more regularly after the discovery that gases from coals create light.
