Significant Change From 1760 to 1914, there were significant changes that happened throughout World, and more precisely in Europe. Industrial Revolution – the simple fact or rural to urbanization Napoleonic Wars American Civil War Revolutions – French Revolution, American Revolution, European Revolution of 1848 German Unification

These changes were taking place through Europe because of the shift in ideological approaches.
What is ideology? Ideology – A set of doctrines or beliefs that are shared by the members of a social group or that form the basis of a political and economical system. It determines what will be accepted as the traditional, lawful, or logically defensible claims to position of power for the purpose of decision making.

Importance of Ideologies
Helps people to understand their environment and order their lives accordingly. Provides a way of judging and evaluating a confusing variety of issues and world events. Makes the future seem more predictable and impart provides a feeling of security. Binds people together by providing them with a common value system Provides the promise of a good life and provide an explanation of how it might be obtained.

Political Spectrum The purpose of the political spectrum is to show the differences in beliefs and ideologies. The main issues/characteristics that positon a person’s attitudes on the spectrum include: Speed of change in a society, Freedom of individual versus security of group, Sharing of wealth through social benefits.

Reactionary – opposing social or political reform or relaxation of government restrictions
Anarchism, Communism, Socialism, Liberalism, Conservatism, Nazism, Fascism
