4. Disinfectant project - description
Aim: to support evaluating Competent Authorities through developing a harmonised and coordinated approach for risk assessment of biocidal active substances used as disinfectants from the second priority list – PT 3, 4, 5
Duration: 12 months (Kick-off meeting 17/12/2015)
Work packages (WP) covered by the contract:
WP1: Preparation of instructions for evaluation of disinfectants
WP2: Preparation of assessment and evaluation guidelines for efficacy of drinking water disinfectants (PT 5)
WP3: Coordination of evaluating Competent Authorities
WP4: Providing support to individual Member States

5. Disinfectant project - Contractor
Contractor: Dr Knoell Consult – working in close cooperation with ECHA Project Team

Expectations from the eCAs:
nominate a contact person – ECHA will give access to Disinfectant Project folder on S-CIRCABC
enable the Contractor to gather all necessary information – exchange of information should be done via S-CIRCABC
indicate if one-to-one assistance in the evaluation of disinfectants is needed

6. Disinfectant project - benefits
streamline and harmonise the evaluation process by providing practical manual, guidance including concrete criteria and practical advice related to the most common problems encountered in the assessment of disinfectants
Ad hoc scientific/technical support to eCAs for dossier evaluation – helps compensating insufficient or unavailable resources
Facilitate the peer review with harmonised and comprehensive CARs delivered on time
