2. 1665 Robert Hooke (English Scientist) observed thin slices of cork and named the little boxes cells.

3. 1675 Anton Van Leeuwenhoek (Dutch Scientist) observed pond water and discovered tiny living creatures naming them “animalcules”

4. 1838 Matthias Schleiden (German Botanist) concluded that cells compose every part of the plant.

5. 1839 Theodor Schwann (German Zoologist) made the same observation with animals.

6. 1858 Rudolph Virchow (German Physician) observed that cells come only from other cells.

7. The Cell Theory Their observations led to the Cell Theory.
