Welcome to sixth grade! 08/06/2018
Beginning of Class Procedures: DO NOT BRING A BACKPACK UNTIL YOU GET A LOCKER. Go get your breakfast NOW. Do not wait. Breakfast is over at 9:15. First period begins at 9:20. Turn in any signed paperwork to the Homeroom bin. It’s the very first tray/bin. Seventh period = Homeroom (There isn’t a 7th period. ) If you are not eating, you must read something of your choice. Help yourself to the books on the bookshelf. Be sure to return the books to the correct shelf when you finish with them. HOMEROOM = SILENCE

Language Arts – Warm Up 08/06/18
P.B.I.S. LESSONS First, turn in any homework you have completed to the homework bin for your class period. The homework bins are on the right side of my desk. Make sure your name is on your work! With your tablemates, create a poster of what good hallway behavior looks like and sounds like. Use text and images to represent this good behavior. Be sure to put all of your names on the back of your poster. Keep in mind that this is just your warm up. We will have other tasks to do soon, so be sure to stay on task now!

P.B.I.S. LESSONS – 4th Period Only First, turn in any homework you have completed to the homework bin for your class period. The homework bins are on the right side of my desk. Make sure your name is on your work! Get your phones/devices ready to play Kahoot based on your P.B.I.S. lesson from today about the hallways. If you do not have a device/phone, share with a partner who is already at your table. Do not change seats.

Essential Question: How can I be respectful, responsible and safe? What are plot elements? Standard: ELACC6RL3 – Describe how a particular story’s or drama’s plot unfolds in a series of episodes as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution.

“To Map a Story” First, read the story. You may mark important parts of the story as we read it. Then, use COMPLETE SENTENCES to answer the corresponding questions on the back. Once you finish, be sure your name is on your paper and submit it to the homework bin for your class period.

Setting Up Your I.A.N.: You will use your I.A.N. (Interactive Notebook) EVERY DAY. First, using a PEN ONLY write your first and last name and class period in the white space on the front cover. Then, on the first sheet, write the following: Use some shade of BLUE. Write these on the FIRST LINE. Write this INSIDE OF THE RED MARGIN.

I.A.N. Page Numbers: First, using a pencil, write the ODD page numbers only on the bottom of right side pages only. The left side pages will be for even numbers, which you can do later. Be sure to write the number on the INSIDE of the red marginal line.

What Represents You? Think of what motivates or inspires you. These are the text/images you will search for within our magazines. Cut out and glue down images and text that represent and/or inspire you on the cover of your IAN. Be sure not to cover up your name! You must cover the entire front cover with multiple images and/or text. Later, we will seal your cover so that it lasts.
