1 Neptune This is an image of Neptune’s surface.

2 History * Galle and d ’ Arrest first observed Neptune which was on September 23, But two centuries earlier Galileo discovered it. * The weather in Neptune is very chilly and cold. It’s -218 degrees-Celsius!

3 Solar System Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun.
The orbital period for one trip around the sun is 165 years. Neptune’s rotation period is about hours.

4 Moons In late 2013 Neptune has discovered 14 moons so far. But that is not the end of Neptune’s moons discoveries. The names of Neptune’s moons are; Triton, Nereid, Naiad, Larissa. Thalassa, Neso, Sao, Galatea and Halimede ,Despina, Laomedeia. Proteus and last but not least Psamathe.

5 Neptune’s Appearance Neptune’s appearance is very entertaining with all the detail. It’s color is a mix of blue and green. It has a faint ring system that goes around the whole thing, it’s like a perimeter going around a shape. Neptune has a dark spot which is very similar to Jupiter’s red spot.

6 Rings Neptune’s has a very large ring system. There are only about nine clearly seen rings. Neptune is one of the four planets in our Solar System that has planetary rings.

7 Exploration Neptune has 13 known satellites, they are named for aquatic personages in Greek and Roman mythology. For instance these six moons; Despina, Galatea, Larissa, Thalassa, Naiad and Proteus. Were found by Space Craft two!

8 Interesting Facts * Did you know that Neptune is the fourth-largest by diameter and third- largest in mass. * Neptune is the most dense planet in the solar system.
