Question 1 Few errors Keep it simple Answer the question
Often a single word is all that is needed.

Be prepared to write more than a simple list of ideas Aim for the same number of arguments as there are marks available IN YOUR OWN WORDS

Question 4 Always a writer’s craft question. Look for the HOW not just the WHAT. The question gives a focus-use it. If asked to show how feelings are presented, be sure ot identify the feelings in your response. Do not simply write about the passage with no focus. No need to repeat the wording of the question in an introduction – just write Notice development within the passage. In this case from ‘sad’ to ‘it was too painful’. Not enough awareness was shown of this change. Make sure you write about the whole passage ansd also use any bullets offered to structure your writing effectively. Some still confusing metaphor and simile Always try to ‘unpack’ figurative language. Why is ‘mercury’ so effective? Unless you can tell me, you don’t show that you know.

Question 5 Once again, if asked to show how feelings are presented, be sure ot identify the feelings, possibly as an intor sentence. Use the bullets – don’t treat this as a brain-dump Answer the specific question Look for structural development Know the passages well and be aware This is a HOW question - you must move beyond the WHAT.

Question 6 SPAG Plan Often a lack of pronoun use creates very repetitive and dull prose Get some variety of punctuation in here - .,;:’-””?... Read for sense of flow. Does it sound as you wish it to sound? It is the short one and generally was a good length – don’t be tempted ot overdo it. Keep it about you

Question 7 PLAN it Do it first
Plan specifically to focus on HOW you write – it is more important than your actual opinions on child inactivity and obesity TRAPPERS Direct Speech Front-Load the variety of structure Be strategic: if a certain approach gives a better chance of interesting writing, then adopt it. Errors of ; colon use in lists Agreement of noun/verb (number) and pronoun (we… our)
