1 “What to expect at Apple's iPhone event”

2 If you're itching for a new iPhone, the company will reveal everything you need to know about its next-generation smartphone this week. On Wednesday, September 7, the company is holding its annual fall media event in San Francisco, where it typically unveils the new iPhone. Regularly rolling out new versions of its best selling hardware is key to the company's business. These new iPhones -- said to be called the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus -- likely won't attempt anything too crazy. Apple seems to be saving up any major overhauls for the iPhone's 10th anniversary next year. This year, we may see an option with a new shade of black added to the lineup. But get ready to hear an outpour of anger from Apple fans over the removal of the headphone jack. The industry standard 3.5mm headphone jack doesn't take up much space and works with most third-party headphones, but Apple is rumored to remove it all together in favor embracing wireless headphones. More positive improvements include better cameras, the iPhone might finally be waterproof, or at least water-resistant, and this could finally be the year Apple kills the baffling 16GB version of the iPhone for a 32GB entry-level device.

3 In Other News The recipient of the world's first face transplant, Isabelle Dinoire, has died, according to French doctors. A statement released by Amiens Hospital, which performed the ground-breaking procedure in November 2005, said Dinoire died on April 22, 2016 "following a long illness." She was 49 years old. The delay in announcing her death was explained in the hospital statement. "In accordance with the will of her relatives, no obituary was published in the press in order to protect their legitimate privacy at that painful time," the statement said. Though the hospital did not provide any details on the cause of Dinoire's death, French media reported she succumbed to complications from her most recent operation. Surgeons performed the original operation when Dinoire was 38 years old, after her face was mauled by her dog. Joe Hosteen Kellwood, one of the Navajo code talkers during World War II, has died at age 95. Kellwood died Monday at the Veterans Hospital in Phoenix. He served in the First Marine Division and fought during World War II in the Pacific front, seeing battle in Cape Gloucester, Peleliu and Okinawa.
