What does this mean? The goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practised without discrimination of any kind, in a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play. Does the Olympic Games benefit EVERYONE GLOBALLY?

4 Is there a relationship between wealth and medals at the Olympics?
Task 1: Choose one of the following hypotheses: There is NO relationship between wealth and medals at the Olympic Games There IS a relationship between wealth and medals at the Olympic Games. Write your chosen hypothesis in your book Give two reasons for your chosen hypothesis.

5 Task 2: Make a scatter graph
Find resources on Task 2: Make a scatter graph Open the medals_worksheet document OR google sheets Using the Olympic_medals_2016 document select 15 countries (3 from the top, 3 from the middle and 3 from the bottom of the medal table) Add their GDP per capita using the gdp_country_2016 document.

6 Task 3: Make the scatter graph
Google sheets / excel: Insert, chart (select scatter) Annotate it to identify if medals increase or decrease with GDP. Which are the highest / lowest figures?  Are there any anomalies?  Can you explain the patterns?  to  Extension: How else can we look at the medals table?
