Information Waltz was very popular in Vienna in the early 19th century then spread to the rest of Europe. Waltz is played in in triple time, mostly 3/4, sometimes 3/8 or 3/2 They usually have one chord per bar with the bass note being heard on the first beat. So, the beat would go Oom Cha Cha. It also have lyrical melodies. And sometimes use several different melodies in one a piece

Waltz was known in this country by its English name, 'By The Beautiful Blue Danube’. This is classic waltz territory. It's also something of an Austrian anthem, thanks partly to its inclusion in the annual New Year's Day concerts in Vienna and André's performances too, of course.
