The Arctic Centre is a national research institute and science centre, located at the Arctic Circle (latitude: 66°33′ 44″) The Arctic Centre conducts and conveys internationally recognised, multidisciplinary research concerning Arctic issues, and it trains experts on the Arctic The proposed EU Arctic Information Centre – to provide a channel for dissemination of Arctic information within and outside the EU Global Change research group is led by Research Professor Bruce Forbes - we study climate, land-use and socio- economic change in the North - reindeers, snow and ice - Lapland, Siberia (Yamal), Svalbard

Global Change research group intends to submit a proposal for the EU-FP7-ENV-2012 call: Theme 6 Environment, Challenge 6.1 Coping with climate change - ENV Seasonal-to-decadal climate predictions towards climate services: FP7-ENV-2012-two-stage - international collaboration: Nordic countries, Russia, EU, China - strong background from previous projects: “Challenges of Modernity for Reindeer Management: Integration and Sustainable Development in Europe’s sub- Arctic and Boreal Regions (RENMAN)”: funded by the EU 5th Framework Developing new tools and models of participatory research and planning in reindeer management. “Environmental and Social Impacts of Industrialization in Northern Russia (ENSINOR)” A multidisciplinary analysis of the social and environmental consequences of energy development in northern Russia
