Planning and Prep End-User Training should take place after all UAT items are addressed and completed Training Goal - A day in the life of an End-User From login to logout, what will your typical End-User be doing within OU Campus? Hands-on activity-based training

Planning and Prep Determining End-User tasks/responsibilities
Which page types will they need to edit? Will they be... editing page parameters? involved in workflows? creating new content? uploading files? editing navigation/props files? Are there snippets/assets/widgets they will commonly use? If possible, group similar End-Users together in the same session

Each End-User participant Needs their own login credentials Ideally, each participant has logged in prior to training Needs their own training example page These pages will need to be created in advance The Trainer Needs to conduct training as an End-User Same user level/permissions as participants Needs workflow configuration to match End-Users’

Create a separate section for training Create one training example page with guided training text Make copies of the training example page for each participant Create an images folder and upload sample images Publish out the entire section

OU Campus Access for Training
Set the Site Access to Admin Only ***Be cautious when changing Access Settings on a live site Set _resources/ou/template folder Access to Everyone May also need to set _resources/ou/editor/select-lists/ to Everyone Set the Training section to Everyone Alternatively, you can create a Training Group and set access to that group Set the Default Image Folder to the training images folder Set other custom Directory Variables Create and set a Template Group to the Training section

Tips and Tricks During Training... keep your speaking pace slow
pause at the end of each section to allow time for mental processing and questions make the presentation engaging/interactive add in short commentary or conversational points training on a repetitive task? after the first/second repetition, let the participants prompt you on how to do it keep an eye on facial expressions and body language walk around the room to check in on participants gear your training to an adult audience

Tips and Tricks When creating instructional materials...
make step-by-step instructions each step should be clear, concise, and explain one task phrase tasks in chronological order Click OK at the bottom of the pop up menu. At the bottom of the pop up menu, click OK. use screenshots make your screenshots large enough to give them context add highlighting, boxes or arrows write in the second person (active voice) find a guinea pig to test out your instructions
