While you listen… List the evidence presented at trial. Note how the state/prosecutor interpreted it. Note how the defense/Adnan interprets it. After listening, write your own analysis of the evidence.

Affidavit - A written statement confirmed by oath or affirmation, for use as evidence in court. Read Asia McClain’s affidavit. What characteristics do affidavits have?

Affidavit Structure Title – Usually a name “Affidavit of ________”
2. First paragraph includes name and personal details - residence, place of work, age or date of birth, relationship details (if applicable) 3. Opening sentence in the first person “I swear…” 4. List the facts needed, arrange them in logical structure Don’t include unnecessary facts.

Structure continued. 5. State each fact in one paragraph. Number each paragraph 6. Describe things concisely and clearly Include names, dates, other relevant information 7. If there are supporting documents call them “exhibits” 8. State at the end that this is a complete representation of facts, clarify the oath taken 9. Sign & Authenticate(notary)

Write an affidavit from the perspective of a title character Follow the guidelines from yesterdays notes There should be a minimum of 15 numbered paragraphs Tell the whole story! Share with Ms. Kelley by 3/1. Your title (& doc title) should be your character name.
