Some statistics 97 young people aged16-24 recruited since March 2011
82% completed the programmes to date 218+ number of qualifications achieved of those completing the programme: 26 (37%) into apprenticeships 22 (31%) into employment 7 (10%) further learning 9 (13%) into ETE within 6 months Costs – Approx £6k per young person – savings immense

Hints and Tips Create a dedicated delivery team
Create a strong structure that forms a ‘safe space’ Team members need to have same clear goals and values Recruit young people effectively: competitive = valued place Regular monitoring to avoid ‘drift’ and ‘differing stories’ Know when to let someone go - Pathways is not right for all Evaluate in order to improve – and evolution takes time Celebrate success

Why you should engage Relatively small financial investment (£247k per borough) for long term gain - relatively large savings: (mental health, leaving care and LAC investment, crime reduction, welfare benefits, Safeguarding etc) Have developed pre-Pathways programme for those not (yet) able to access/benefit from Pathways – Progression is key Win-Win Situation – Benefits for the young person and for the workforce
