2 “He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that after him there was none like him among the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him.” 2 Kings 18:5 “For he clung to the LORD; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD had commanded Moses.” 2 Kings 18:6

3 To cling is an unrelenting grasp.
Clung [Hebrew – dabaq] – abide fast, keep fast, follow close, pursue hard, be joined Genesis 2:24; Deuteronomy 4:4; Joshua 23:8 “Letting go” of God should never be an option we consider because God is the Unchanging Absolute.

4 To cling is an unrelenting grasp.
“God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son” (1 Corinthians 1:9) “…God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

5 To cling is an unrelenting grasp.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23) “But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul” (Hebrews 10:39)

6 Hezekiah clung to the One who was greater than arms of flesh (2 Chronicles 32:6-8).
In moments of fear, God’s people need a strong trust that courageously clings to God. “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory belongs to the LORD.” (Proverbs 21:31) Shepherd boy David to Goliath (1 Samuel 17:45) Prophet Elisha to a servant (2 Kings 6:16)

7 Hezekiah clung to the One who was greater than arms of flesh (2 Chronicles 32:6-8).
Arm yourselves with the armor of God – Cling to God and His ways in the midst of your daily battles (Ephesians 6:11-12).

8 Clinging to God begins with always adhering to His commandments.
“…he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments” (2 Kings 18:6) “The one who says, ‘I have come to know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” (1 John 2:4) Hebrews 5:9; Matthew 28:20

9 Clinging to God begins with always adhering to His commandments.
Clinging to God has always necessitated obedience. Deuteronomy 10:20-21; 11:22-23; 13:4; 30:19-20 God has spoken to us through His Son! Words of salvation (Acts 11:14); words of eternal life (John 6:68); words of God’s grace (Acts 20:32); words of righteousness (Hebrews 5:13); words of judgment (John 12:48)
