BELLRINGER: How did the 1896 Supreme Court case of Plessy v. Ferguson influence segregation? Refer to the map in your text on p.909. How many U.S. states outlawed segregation in public schools? How many states permitted segregation in schools? TODAY I CAN: Identify the Causes of the Civil Rights Movement; explain the role of racial violence in spurring change.
