U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Africa UNCLASSIFIED LOGISTICS What is Logistics? Logistics is defined as the science of planning and carrying out the movement and maintenance of forces. In its most comprehensive sense, those aspects of military operations which deal with: a design and development, acquisition, storage, movement, distribution, maintenance, evacuation, and disposition of materiel.

Mass departure, movement, and hospitalization of wounded personnel are carefully planned to make a successful military operation. Supply of cloth, food, water, shelter, medical aids, and transportation are planned and executed with the art of military logistics. Arrangements for storage, maintenance, and deployment of facilities at the right time and the right quantity are essential in the warfront. The science of military logistics is also used for the arrangement of facilities such as weapons, protective equipments, communication mechanisms, construction materials, and spare parts.

Logistics makes sure that the material being moved arrives at the place and on time. Logistics moves the gear to the place where it is needed. Logistics assures that the force has the essentials that is needed to accomplish the mission

Commanding Officer of the Company; They are ultimately responsible for the actions of the Logistics section to make certain that their troops have the essential and proper resources to complete day to day operations. Logistic Officer Responsible for the movement of assets for their unit. They are the one that monitors and controls the section. Logistics SNCO; He is the one in charge of assuring the unit is properly prepared and knowledgeable for the operations. He assigns sections representatives to monitor and keep up with the ever changing sections.

He assures that sections representatives to monitor and keep up with the ever changing sections. He assists sections and mentors the representatives to guarantee proper preparedness of items. Logistics section representative; He is the one for the section that keeps the logistics shop updated with changes and needs. He is the one responsible for his section.
