2 E2 VQ2 PRE-AP ENG 2 VQ2 – begin (6) sentences with adverbs, and (6) sentences with verbs. 1. exalt (tv) – to hold (someone or something) in very high regard; to speak very highly of (one) 2. emphatic (adj) – showing or expressing something forcibly and clearly; vehement; wholehearted 3. usher (tv) – to cause or mark the start of something new; to herald (the arrival of something) 4. renaissance (n) – a rebirth or revival of something, often related to art or intellect 5. dabble (v) – to take part in an activity in a casual or superficial way 6. sage (n) – a profoundly wise person; a scholar; a learned person; a philosopher; a savant 7. barren (adj) – empty; unable to sustain or produce life 8. host (n) – a large number of people or things; a multitude; an abundance 9. margin (n) – the edge or border of something; a perimeter; boundary 10. sprightly (adj) – (especially related to dance) lively; full of energy 11. putative (adj) – generally considered or reputed to be (a certain way); supposed, assumed, presumed 12. pensive (adj) – engaged in, involving, or reflecting deep or serious thought; reflective; contemplative; introspective
