The Club was founded in 1989 by a Swiss soccer player named Hans Gamper, better known in Spain as Joan Gamper, after having published an advertisement in the newspaper calling for the creation of a football club. Only 11 players appeared because of the announcement, led by Joan Gamper, thus giving birth to what we know today as FC Barcelona. History of the FC Barcelona

History of the Real madrid Founded in 1902, Real Madrid C.F. was actually first named ‘Madrid Club de Fútbol’. In 1920, King Alfonso XII added the word ‘real‘ in the front of it, meaning ‘royal’, thanks to the international success the team was having. The crown emblem on the shield appeared when the name was amended.Real Madrid C.F.

Stadiums Camp nou The “Camp Nou” or Campo Nuevo was built in 1957. It has a capacity for 99,000 people making it the largest stadium in Europe and the third largest in the world. Although the stadium had, at first, the same capacity to accommodate spectators as the Maracanã Stadium in Brazil, the number of people allowed, for security reasons, had to be reduced.

Santiago bernabeu It opened on December 14th, 1947, with a match between Real Madrid CF and Portuguese side Os Belenenses which ended 3-1 in favor of 'Los Blancos' (the Whites). Sabino Barinaga scored the opening goal.

Emblem There has been a lot of discussion about the origin of the colors of Barcelona, the red and the dark blue. After investigations it was concluded, based on tests, that they were inspired by the colors of FC Basel, which is half red and half blue, given that Joan Gamper, founder of Barça, was a fan of that team from his homeland, Switzerland.

Emblem The first emblem, which was created in 1902, featured three interlacing letters, “MCF”. The letters stood for Madrid Club de Fútbol. The emblem itself was blue, while the shirts on which it appeared were white. Although the design was visually appealing and elegant, it was far from being legible

Two Luis Suárez Few should know, but by the ranks of Barcelona has already passed a famous Luis Suarez. He was Spanish, was an attacker like the Uruguayan and is the only Iberian footballer to win the Golden Ball in 1960. After his long experience at Barça, he emigrated to Inter Milan and there he also left an indelible mark.

There’s another Real Madrid out there Real Madrid South Africa is a semi-professional football club from Galeshewe, in the Northern Cape area of South Africa. Although the original name of the team was Ipogeng Stars, in 1989, the president of the club decided to rename the team Real Madrid as he was a big fan.

Di Stefano, Maradona and Messi The three best Argentinian players in history passed through Barcelona. Alfredo Di Stefano, historical symbol of Real Madrid, originally played for Barça in 1953, but after a tug-of-war with his arrival, they let him play for the meringues. Maradona, as is known, played two seasons, between 1982 and 1984, and Lionel Messi is the current emblem of the club and the team, already owner of several records.

First contract of Messi The Argentinian star Lionel Messi signed his first contract with the Barca on a napkin when he was just twelve years old, now this napkin that was used to hire the player is displayed in the museum of the Catalan club.

Cristiano Ronaldo Ronaldo was nicknamed "cry- baby" as a child. His mother Dolores Aveiro said: "When he got home from school I'd tell him to do homework but he'd say he didn't have any. I'd be making dinner and he would jump out of the window and run off until late. He used to cry when he passed and his friends didn't score. People called him 'cry-baby' and 'little bee' because nobody could catch him."

More than a club Barça has been famous for his slogan, més que un club that makes the sentence meaning be more than a slogan. The sentence was pronounced for the first time on 17th January 1968 by Narcis Carrera, the president of the club at that time. He said that Barça is more than a football club, more than being the place where to spend a sunday, are a colors that we love above all. The sentence though was not as popular until his predecessor, Agustí Montal, used it in his campaign in 1973: Barça is something more than a club.

Real Madrid C.F. wears white because… There are many legends and stories to why Real Madrid C.F. wears white uniforms, but the most popular goes back to the grassroots of soccer in Spain: many boys used to practice in their white undershirts.
