2 Producers Also referred at as autotrophs, uses energy from its surroundings to make food Most use sunlight and make food through photosynthesis Examples of producers: Green plants (like grass and trees) Algae Some bacteria

3 Decomposers Organisms that get their energy by breaking down the remains of other organisms Examples: Fungi (like mushrooms) Some bacteria

4 Consumers Organisms that eat other organisms to get their energy and nutrients (cannot make their own food) 3 types of consumers: Herbivores: eats only plants (Ex: grasshoppers, bison) Carnivores: eats other animals (Ex: wolves, lions) Omnivores: eats both plants and animals (Ex: people, bears, rats)
