State the writer’s thesis in your own words. Is the thesis/main idea of the paper clear and effective? Why or why not?
Is the essay developed in such a way that it supports the thesis effectively? Explain. Write “more” next to any claims in the paper that need more supporting evidence.
Is the supporting evidence used effectively? Please explain your answer, and note in the body of the paper itself where ideas work or don’t work.
4. Is the essay written with grammar/mechanics/style acceptable for an academic audience? (This includes proper MLA format). If not, what needs work?
Tell the writer what he/she has done best in the essay.
6. Give the writer three suggestions for improvement.
