Eye on Climate Change A program for Grades 8-12 at Rutgers University Educators and their students are invited to collaborate with scientists to explore climate change data and how it can be used to make environmental decisions. Students will present their ideas at the Climate Change Summit 2019 at Rutgers University. APPLY TODAY at Project Description Climate change is a major threat to our planet. Students (grades 8-12) are invited to work with Rutgers University scientists to learn about climate change science and to develop science projects that apply their knowledge of climate change issues in their local communities. Student teams and their advisors will participate in a series of activities to enrich their understanding of climate change sciences and will present their work at Rutgers University in the Climate Change Summit. What is Required? Rutgers will accept applications for educators and their 8-12th grade students to participate in this program. There are only 15 spots available in this program. Step #1: Educators will attend a professional development. Rutgers University will offer a 2-day professional development on July 25-26, You will receive lessons to help prepare your students for step #3. Step #2: Students will develop a project that uses local observations and data collection to explore environmental decision making in their community. Rutgers scientists will provide webinar/conference call check ins to assist and support students. Step #3. Attend the Climate Change Summit at Rutgers University. On March 28, 2019, a subset of students from each school will join together with graduate students and faculty on the Rutgers Cook Campus to discuss climate change research and gain exposure to career and research opportunities in climate change related sciences. Most importantly, students will be invited to present their projects to Rutgers scientists. Participating teachers will receive a $100 stipend after the Climate Change Summit.
