HOW to process IID INSTALLS

2. ACT 100
Ignition Interlock Devices (IIDs) will be MANDATORY for:
ALL repeat OWIs
ALL refusals.
ALL 1st offense OWI with BAC of 0.15 or higher
The court MUST order the IID
DMV has no authority to impose if the court fails to do so.
The IID is required on all vehicles titled or registered in the customer’s name, unless exempted by the court that ordered the IID
IF VEHICLE(S) ARE NOT EXEMPTED, The offender must provide proof of IID installation for all vehicles owned and registered before DMV can issue an occupational license or reinstate operating privilege.

3. ACT 100 BUT ???How is proof of IID installation verified???
IID vendors will install and send IID information electronically. The information will update overnight through a batch process.
BUT
A customer may still bring the IID Install/Removal form to the DMV Service Center
AND
BFS staff may have to enter IID information before a DL product can be issued.
If IID information is needed, a message will appear in the bottom screen of the eligibility window when applying for DL product

4. WHERE/HOW to process IID installs
The most frequent/common area a processor may become aware of the IID requirement is when the applicant is applying for a driver license product.
The IID requirement will appear in the lower half of the eligibility window.

5. SELECT DL TASK and then WORK on TASK

6. Click on Apply for License
An eligibility check will be done for product selected.

7. If IID information is required for a transaction, it will appear in the bottom box of the eligibility window.
CLICK on message and it will launch into the IID INSTALL/EXEMPTION window

8. Select which vehicle to maintain IID information.
Click on MAINTAIN IID TRANSACTIONS

9. The Maintain IID Transaction window will open.
Select INSTALL.
This will open up the date, time and IID Installer area to enter information.

10. SAVE Enter date of installation
Enter time IID was installed (time may be on either the IID install form or processor will ask applicant for approximate time)

11. CLOSE WINDOW Window will now show the INSTALL information. Date Time
Installer
Station ID
Processor ID
CLOSE WINDOW

12. Customer Vehicle List will show an IID installed on vehicle.
CLOSE window and continue processing.

13. If an applicant has more than 1 vehicle,
Select next vehicle to update IID information
Select Maintain IID Transactions and repeat previous steps.
When completed, Close window and continue processing.

21. Reminder/Helpful Hints
A majority of the IID installations should be done electronically from the IID installer to our systems through overnight batch processing.
If the IID information has not been updated on our system, BFS staff will be become aware of the IID requirement through the eligibility check when processing a DL product.
Attach IID Install form to MV3001 and place into batch applications if the form is used to enter IID information.
