2 Who are the ECITB The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) IS A Non- Departmental Public Body (NDPB) accountable to the Department of Education (DfE). Established in 1991, the ECITB is the skills, standards and qualifications body with statutory responsibility for the development of the engineering construction workforce of Great Britain through an industrial training levy.

3 Mission Statement The ECITB’s mission is to; “Deliver engineering construction excellence through leadership on skills”. It does this by working with employers, providers, government and other stakeholders to attract, develop and qualify people across a range of occupations and disciplines.

4 The ECITB The engineering construction industry plays a vital role in the UK economy. Work covers activities throughout the entire life cycle of industrial process plant and equipment; Concept and engineering design Procurement Project management Construction, installation and commissioning Renewal and maintenance Decommissioning and dismantling.

5 Some statistics (2016) since 1991:
Supported 1.5 million learners Invested £380m Over 2,000 apprentices on programme at any one time Over 28,000 vocational qualifications awarded Over 844,000 safety passports issued Over 21,000 competence cards issued Now operating in 18 different countries

Be a part of Engineering Construction Game (free on iTunes) Secondary Schools 5 geography/ career lessons outlining the key concepts, processes and suggested content for lessons at KS3. Career pathway tool careers and career progression in the engineering construction sector Role Profiles Career Events – Big Bang STEM challenge – piloting in NE in November focus on disadvantaged groups

8 Develop and Qualify ITEC
10 month programme for those wanting to work in the sector but unable to gain employment as an apprentice. They are aged between and will undertake a level 3 technical knowledge qualification and a programme of practical training specific to the Engineering Construction sector The course is funded jointly by the Skills Funding Agency and the ECITB The young people do not get paid for the course they choose to do this rather than a traditional generic college course Monthly employability reports and training reports available for interested companies Apprenticeships 14 ECITB Apprenticeship frameworks ECITB Products and Services

Direct access to policy makers in Whitehall via our policy department Development of ECI qualifications written by industry for industry Extensive portfolio of training programmes and vocational technical training and testing to guarantee competency in practical craft and technician occupations as well as the technical, management supervisory, design and project management skills Skills and training information and advice Working with stakeholders to develop legacy offerings for regions containing ECI sites
