IDIOMATIC FEATURES OF THE PROJECT
(1) India is a unique country whose fabric has been woven by diverse linguistic, cultural & traditional threads for national integration. All the citizens of India should feel culturally integrated in all corners of the country. (2) The idea of sustained and structured cultural connect in India was mooted by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Divas on 31st October 2015.The concerned sister states of Madhya Pradesh are Manipur & Nagaland. (3) The objectives of this program are:- To celebrate ‘Unity in Diversity.’ To promote heritage & tradition of different regions of India.

MANIPUR: Manipur is a North-eastern state of India with capital city of Imphal. It is uniquely a meeting point between India and South-east Asia. This state is currently under least developing and isolated states of India. NAGALAND: Nagaland is a North-eastern state of India with capital city of Kohima. This state was carved out from the state of Assam. The economy of the state is totally dependent on agricultural activities.

FESTIVALS, DANCES & SPORTS

FESTIVALS: Kang Chingba is the main festival of Manipur.
It is celebrated for 10 days in month of June-July. Idol of Lord Jagannath of Puri reaches Manipur via Bengal. Lord Jagannath of Puri is named as Jagabondhu in Manipur. Hornbill Festival is one of the major festivals of Nagaland. The significance of celebrating the festival is to revive, protect, sustain and promote the richness of the Naga heritage. Different Naga tribes perform different dances. Nagaland wrestling is also organized during Hornbill festival.

DANCES: Jagoi dance or Manipuri dance is one the most famous classical dance styles of India. It comprises of religious & devotional themes. It was developed under the influence of cult of Vaishnavism in 15th Century. War dance is most famous dance form all around Nagaland. This dance form is energetic and athletic in style. In this dance form, mostly mock war scenario is displayed.

SPORTS: Yubi Lakpi is the most popular traditional sport of Manipur.
‘Yubi Lakpi’ literally means ‘coconut snatching’. In this sport there are seven players in each team. Nagaland Wrestling is one of the most played sport in Nagaland. It is organized during the Hornbill Festival. The winner of this seasonal event is considered as the champion until the next season.

TRIBES:- The Meitei tribes is the most populated tribal group of Manipur. They mainly eat the staple food (Rice, Fish). They speak Meithei Language. The Angami tribes of Nagaland live in Dimapur and Imphal district. They live on cultivation and Livestock Rearing. They usually eat pork with bamboo shoot.

LANGUAGE & LITERATURE:
MANIPUR Meitei is the most popular and widely spoken language of Manipur. This language is currently considered as the vulnerable languages of India by UNESCO. Manipuri literature is also written in Meitei Language. The history of the origin of the language is uncertain. NAGALAND:- English was proclaimed as the official language of Nagaland in State Assembly. But the majority speakers of the state belong to the Nagamese language of Nagaland. Naga Literature is also written in Nagamese language. The development of Naga Literature is indecisive.

FAMOUS PERSONALITY (MANIPUR)
Mary Kom is the most popular Indian boxer hailing from Kom tribe of Manipur. She has won 5 titles in World Amateur Boxing. She is the only woman in the World to win titles in each of the six category. She recently won Gold Medal at Commonwealth Games 2018.

FAMOUS PERSONALITY (NAGALAND)
Chekrovolu Swuro is an Indian Olympic Archer. She has won many titles globally and also won Arjun Award in 2013. She is currently serving as Deputy Superintendent of Police (D.S.P) in Nagaland Armed Forces.
