2 Zell Miller Scholarship
HOPE consists of 6 different programs: HOPE GED Grant HOPE Grant HOPE Career Grant Zell Miller Grant HOPE Scholarship Zell Miller Scholarship We will review the general information regarding the 4 most common programs, which are in green above.

3 HOPE GRANT Not the same as the HOPE Scholarship
Available to Georgia residents pursuing a certificate or associates degree at a Technical College System of Georgia or University System of Georgia Institution No specific high school GPA required Must maintain minimum 2.0 cumulative postsecondary GPA to remain eligible Eligible for first 30 semester hours then must meet HOPE Scholarship eligibility requirements at the 30-hour checkpoint Covers a portion of the tuition Award amounts are based on number of hours taken and the school attending

4 ZELL MILLER GRANT Available to Georgia residents pursuing a certificate or associates degree at a Technical College System of Georgia or University System of Georgia Institution No specific high school GPA required Must maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative postsecondary GPA to remain eligible Provides full tuition (not fees, books, room & board) while enrolled at an eligible college or university in Full-time enrollment not required First term paid retroactively if the student has the required 3.5 cumulative postsecondary GPA at the end of the term

5 HOPE SCHOLARSHIP Provides tuition assistance to students pursuing an undergraduate degree at a HOPE Scholarship eligible college or university in Georgia Covers a portion of tuition and covers no fees, room & board, books, etc. Must graduate from high school with minimum 3.0 CORE GPA and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative postsecondary GPA to remain eligible Must earn a minimum of 4 full credits from the HOPE designated academic rigor course list while in high school Covers up to 15 semester hours; 7-year limit GPAs are NOT rounded; 0.5 added for AP and Dual Enrollment courses (up to 4.0); no weight added to Honors or special courses

Provides full tuition assistance (not student fees, books, room & board) Must graduate from high school with a minimum CORE GPA and maintain a 3.3 cumulative postsecondary GPA Must have a minimum 1200 SAT or 26 ACT score earned on a single test administration Must earn minimum of 4 full credits from HOPE academic rigor course list while in high school Covers up to 15 semester hours; 7-year limit GPAs are NOT rounded; 0.5 added for AP and Dual Enrollment courses (up to 4.0); no weight added to honors or special courses

8 Transcripts are uploaded from SHS to the Georgia Student Finance Commission, who then calculates your HOPE GPA. You can find your HOPE GPA by logging into your GA Futures account. Remember: GPA for HOPE Scholarship and Zell Miller is CORE GPA GPA is not rounded (ex: does not qualify for HOPE scholarship) A weight of 0.5 is added to AP and Dual Enrollment courses (up to 4.0) A weight is NOT added for honors or special courses

Georgia Student Finance Commission webpage Select “Tuition Award Amounts” tab Click on “Search for FY2018 award amounts by institution”
