A volcano is a vent in Earth’s surface that magma and gases escape from.
There Are Three Types of Volcanoes:

Composite (Stratovolcanoes)

The type of volcano is determined by the type of magma that creates it.
Two Types of Magma:
1. Mafic
- runny, dark colored
- forms ocean volcanoes
- creates quiet eruptions

Pahoehoe Aa
Blocky

- thick, light colored
- forms continental volcanoes
- creates explosive eruptions

12. Felsic lava explodes and throws fragments of rock called pyroclastic material. The material is categorized by its size.
