Activity Agreement Service
Maxine Morrison Activity Agreement Service Manager This has been a really busy year for our service but also our most productive in terms of developing the service – we have had 3 coaches down so the coaches have had additional responsibilities and higher caseloads but im pleased that we have remained successful and met all our targets. I nfact we have set a target for next year of a 90% success rate so that will be interesting. Althought we lost 3 staff we also gained new members to our team. This is our who have responsibilit y for re engagement – so this means the coaches can focus on those young people who are ready for an AA and the re engagement team will do all the monitoring and tracking . We have developed systems and processes that make the service more efficient.

Mission Statement “Its My Life, My Dream”
We promise to nurture your dreams and work diligently and non judgementally, empowering you to accomplish your dreams. We believe in you and promise to go the extra mile… This was a statement from one of our young people and we used this to develop our mission statement – and you will see this on our programme folder that the coaches will be sharing with you a bit later. The mission statement became the starting point of our developing the service. The first part of the statement we promise to nurture your dreams – starting point – change perceptions of I cant to I can – no matter how far the dream may seem. Empowering – the yp create their own unique action plan but how do we ensure the decisions are informed and come from them. this year we have been working on developing the service, what are we offering our young people, is it working – ultimately how can we improve our service and ensure .. This part is our promise and later on we begin to look at what we expect from the young people it’s a two way process.

Statistics 2015-16 684 referrals 563 offered (82%)
437 Activity Agreements (79% sign up rate) 71% progressed 10% remain on AA & 19% left early 684 referred – less than last year – reflects trends staying on at school / early intervention – nationally this is similar pattern scot gov expect this – right young people… why they arent offered – already in a positive already – OFFERED – 79% were signed up for an Activity Agreement – accepted the offer or were able to engage % are in a positive destination – 71% have completed and 10% remain on their Activity Agreement – 19% left their AA early it is this group that we are interested in WHY did the disengage – we will continue to re engage them for 12 months we recognise that life can be chaotic an affect your ability to engage – 12 months support from the point of disengagement – you can see clearly the biggest progression for AA young people is the training route – challenge with the decrease in the number of training opportunities

Eligibility Criteria Are RED on the Risk Matrix Belong to MCR
Couldn’t Sustain Learning Pathway Disengaged from Learning External Agency Referral Every young person who is RED is eligible for a service – the coaches have access to SEEMIS and will run the risk matrix and bring it to the MCMC meeting and if there is anyone on the matrix that you feel AA is NOT the right intervention we will not offer them a service… as you are aware we have a 6 months early intervention period this allows us time to engage young person so when they are reaching their statutory leaving date we have met them done all the prep work and we can sign them at the earliest point. Couldnt Sustain pathway – PPM – if the yp is not ready at the point of referral from school – at the PPM meetings work coaches and AA will decide who will conduct the home visit – joint home visits arranged – we are taking a partnership approach to reducing the number unemployed yp in glasgow and identifying the RIGHT intervention for the yp – if we get it wrong and offer an intervention too below capabilities – lose them – if its too high we will lose them so that’s why we do joint so we can decide at the home visit which stage of the employability pipeline is best for the yp.

How do we assess if an activity agreement is the right intervention for the young person. we have identified 3 key elements that would make someone suitable / ready to engage on an Activity Agreement. Can you come in for 1 hour per week do an informal activity. Barrier acute social anxiety – need camhs / or other mental health support services

Young People who Disengaged
We have identified 5 stages that a young person will go through to reach a positive destination – not a linear process – up and down and some disengage – what do we do when a yp disengages we have developed a system that will monitor yp until they are ready to engage
