to Israel’s rejection of her Messiah.

1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;

After the forty years in the wilderness were over, Joshua led the Israelites across the Jordan River and into the Promised Land.

From Moses to Samuel, the era of the Judges lasted about 450 years.

But starting in Day THREE, God’s covenants were exclusive to a particular people – his CHOSEN people.

1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Abraham received great promises from God even before he began his journey.

Genesis 17:3-6
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
God’s Covenant With Abraham
Twenty-five years later, God was even more emphatic: Abraham would father many nations and kings.

7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
God gave Abraham the unconditional promise of an everlasting SEED and LAND:

Genesis 17:19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
This covenant was established with Abraham through Sarah’s yet unborn son, Isaac:

Genesis 35:10-12
10 And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.
11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; 12 And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.
These promises were confirmed to Abraham’s grandson, Jacob, the patriarch of the twelve tribes of Israel.

Exodus 3:6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
The Almighty God now attached himself to a particular people. He called himself “the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob.”

Deuteronomy 9: Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
This covenant was the bedrock of the relationship between God and the tribes of Israel.

430 years after God’s covenant with Abraham, he made a covenant with Moses and the tribes of Israel:

Exodus 19: Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: 6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
This covenant concerned Israel’s well-being in this present world. The promises were CONDITIONAL based upon their obedience:

Deuteronomy 11: A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
The tribes of Israel were God’s chosen people regardless of whether they kept the Law.
The Law taught them the works that accompany righteous living and a proper relationship with God.

This covenant was established through David’s son, Solomon:
1 Kings 2:45 And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the LORD for ever.

48. The high point in the RISE of Israel was the dedication of the House of God built by Solomon.

1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.
2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house.
3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
