Look at the examples of an outline (both paper and presentation) to assist in creating yours. Handouts Be sure to use the proper format for an outline. Roman numerals, letters, numbers, etc.

A working thesis should be updated and changed as you progress with organizing and writing your paper.

15 Structure: Introduction: Body: Conclusion:
How you will get the readers’ attention. Thesis Statement: Write the actual one sentence thesis statement. Body: Each capital letter is a new area. Each area can be within your 3+ main points. These areas will become paragraphs, or points in presentations. Conclusion: Show how this information should influence a reader or listener’s beliefs and how this can change the world.

16 Your Outline Must Include:
Three areas: Introduction, body & conclusion. These are written out on your outline. Roman numerals represent main ideas. You should have three or more (3+) areas to prove your thesis. Capital letters are to show your support. These do not need to split evenly. Usually each is a new paragraph.

17 Your Outline Must Include:
Numbers allow for specific examples. There should be at least one. Lowercase letters are used to show a quote, paraphrase, or summary of sources. You should include the article information here to help with location. Lowercase roman numerals give analysis of source information. Be sure to offer your opinion/response in how this information supports your thesis/main point.

20 Annotation Time: You should have all ten+ sources in your possession Friday. You can add more after that as well. Be sure to use the new databases and resources (uploaded 4/16). Annotate with attention to: Highlighting/underlining Marginalia Notes in the margin Summary paragraphs

21 Tomorrow: It will be a 50% work day on Thursday.
Please use the time to annotate and/or work on your outlines. You will NOT be able to go to the library to print articles. Prepare ahead of time.
