4. Belief Systems
Name as many belief systems as you can think of (remember, it does not have to be a religion).

5. Belief Systems Did cavemen have any belief systems? Explain.
Did Ancient Civilizations have any belief systems? Explain.

6. Copy the following words/definitions into your notebook:
Caste System – consists of five separate classes (castes) of people.
Brahmans – Priest class of the Caste System.
Kshatriyas – warrior class.
Vaisyas – herders, farmers, merchants, artisans.
Sudras – servants, laborers, farm workers.
Untouchables – performed the worst jobs in society.
Polytheism – belief in multiple gods (more than 1).

7. The Caste System Origins: Rules:
Began in India as part of the Hindu religion. Based on writings in the Vedas (Hindu holy book).
Rules:
A person was born into their caste and could not change it during his/her life (only in his/her next reincarnated life). Obeying caste rules would bring good Karma.
Different caste members were not allowed to intermarry or work together.
Untouchables were considered so “unclean” that they were outside the caste system (outcasts).
